EMITT 2019: highlights from a successful show


The East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition opened its doors to the global travel industry for the 23rd time last week.

The show featured over 1,170 exhibitors (5,620 including all sub-exhibitors), 25% more than previous years, and the stands were packed with the colours and tastes of their respective countries and regions, which made for a vibrant event.

The exhibition attracted over 57,000 visitors from across 94 countries, all looking for exciting travel opportunities and business partnerships.

This year’s Event Programme featured a vast range of interesting events from panel discussions about pressing industry topics to an international travel blogger meetup.


In addition, the show’s Hosted Buyer Programme, organised in cooperation with Travel Shop Turkey, matched exhibiting tour operators and travel service companies with over 800 Hosted Buyers from more than 100 countries.

“It’s my first time here and I came to find partner agents to work together. I’m so excited that I’ve managed to find an agent from almost every country,” said Nancy Wakaba, CEO of Modest Safaris, Kenya, who attended EMITT as a Hosted Buyer.

“It’s been very good this year,” commented Akihide Takeo, Deputy Director of the Japan National Tourism Organization. “Everyone’s been very friendly, and I think Turkish people have a good image of Japan so we’ve had a lot of interest.”
