Mevlüt Uysal, Mayor of Istanbul, gave his opinion about EMITT
Throughout history, Istanbul has been home to great empires. The city, which is a center of culture together with its geopolitical location and incomparable historical richness, hosts millions of tourists every year. Istanbul, a city with a new tourism vision at regional and global levels due to its unique characteristics, opens its doors to EMITT, which is one of the five largest tourism exhibitions in the world, for the 23rd time.
As a consequence of new developments, tourism industry, which is divided into branches as sports, congress, health, and faith, is gradually grows and accordingly gains importance for the countries. Countries open their doors to the world by implementing tourism policies in accordance with their resources and they constantly compete with each other for sports and congress organisations taking place around the world at regular intervals.
Each year, the number of tourists visiting Turkey and consequently Istanbul is increasing. I truly believe that the investments and services we have realized for our city hosting a unique heritage will further improve the tourism industry.
With these feelings and thoughts, I would like to express my pride in hosting the “23rd East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition.”
I think that the exhibition, which hosts more and more visitors every year and visited by 60 thousand people last year to the full satisfaction of almost all of the participants, is of great importance concerning the new job opportunities and collaborations it provides for the tourism industry.
With this occasion, I warmly welcome you, the valuable participants of the 23rd East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition.
