EMITT celebrates its 20th anniversary

As one of the top five tourism exhibitions in the world and the biggest trade event of the tourism industry of Turkey and the region for the last 20 years, East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition – EMITT will bring together the players of the tourism industry between 28-31 January 2016.

To be held in January 2016, EMITT tourism exhibition aims to attract participation from 80 countries in its 20th year as a result of its heavy promotional campaign and networking efforts in addition to a broader event coverage, which now includes congress tourism, winter tourism, outdoor sports tourism and health tourism. ITE Turkey’s Tourism & Travel & Fashion Group Director Hacer Aydin stated that Turkey is the 6th top global tourist destination thanks to its tourism potential that stems from her natural wealth and total revenue of the domestic tourism industry reached 7 billion 733 million 677 thousand USD as of the second quarter of 2015. ITE Turkey’s Tourism & Travel & Fashion Group Director Hacer Aydin also added that the recent EMITT tourism exhibition hosted a total of 142.100 visitors with the participation of 4.500 companies and organizations from 71 countries, emphasizing the importance of EMITT for the tourism industry.

Aydin indicated that EMITT exhibition was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Turkish Airlines, supported by KOSGEB (Small and Medium Industry Development Organization) and was held in association with Turkish Hoteliers Federation (TUROFED) and Turkish Tourism Investors Association (TYD) and continued as follows: “EMITT tourism exhibition managed to become one of the top 5 tourism exhibition in the world during the last 16 years. The event we’ll organize for the 20th time in 2016, also became one of the biggest commercial platforms as a result of gradually increasing number of participants and professional visitors.” Aydin stated that they’ve been in touch with numerous companies as part of the international promotional campaign for the event and drew attention to the agreement they signed with Greece in July 2015. With the agreement signed between EMITT Tourism exhibition and Greece based Aegean Communication SA, tourism companies from Greece will participate in EMITT exhibition for a period of 4 years.

Another major initiative was taken in relation to Bulgaria. Hacer Aydin who joined the meeting held in Pamporovo-Bulgaia in August with the purpose of increasing tourism volume between two countries, met with representatives of the public and private tourism industries of turkey and Bulgaria. Aydin who indicated that their main priority is to create a platform that will meet the expectations of both participants and visitors at the maximum level, invited all professionals of the sector to this important meeting that will bring together the players of the regional tourism industry between 28-31 January 2016.
